It is a database of all the companies registered at the territory of the Slovak Republics. The English version provides data on the company´s name, domicile and identification, its main activity characteristics, number of employees, the legal specification, kind of ownership etc. Some entries are completed with telephone and fax numbers, e-mail and URL addresses, information on annual turnover, capital assets, complete accounts over several years as well as the information on debtors and creditors. The complete information from commercial register is updated on a regular basis. All the subject entries are accompanied with the structured list of names and assignements of statutory agents.

Albertina - Company Monitor on DVD-ROM

Company Name

The database distinguishes Company Trade Name and Company Registered Name. The registered name is provided exactly as it is entered in a particular register. The trade name is modified so that it can be used to contact companies, to simplify work with the data (for instance print on address labels), example:

The trade name of a physical entity usually contains his/her surname and first name, or an additional remark defining the entity of the businessperson or the type of business. Part of trade name of a legal entity is an additional remark defining its legal form

Date of Establishment is available within the Further Registration Data menu. Search for dates is search for time intervals. After you choose this option, a window is opened in which you can set the range of days, months and years. The program will automatically offer the oldest and most current dates. You can choose the required length of time through an entry in the window or by means of buttons. If you want to choose only a particular year (1997), set the interval as 1.1. 1997 - 31.12.1997.  

Type of Ownership distinguishes particular types of relations of persons or other entities to the property of the company. It distinguishes especially private, cooperative, state and communal ownership.  
 
Legal Form of a business entity specifies the form of subjectivity, namely such subjectivity within which an entity has rights and duties in connection with its activities. Search by the type of Legal Form is among the important tools of the selection of groups of companies as the legal form defines for instance responsibility, duty to meet obligations, etc.

Search by districts or regions is for quick territorial classification of selected groups of companies. Districts are arranged in the alphabetical order in the offer within regions. Regions are arranged in a logical order of the breakdown of the official NUTS number list. In the number list of districts and regions it is possible to find any string through Find.  
 
Size of Municipality is based on the last census in the Czech Republic and puts each municipality in one of 10 size categories.  

In the Further Registration Data menu you can find Authorised Municipality and/or Municipality with Extended Authority defined by Law 314/2002 of year 2002. It brings possibility to make other market segmentation additionaly to districts or regions.  

Register of products and services sorts in a unique way activities of companies processed directly by the company Albertina data, s.r.o. The register is focused on the level of groups of products and services which is optimum for marketing needs and which can be found and processed on the basis of publicly available sources.  
The register clearly distinguishes and specifies the phase of how the product reaches the customer (that is the fact whether in relation to the product it is production, import, wholesale trade, retail trade, consultancy, etc.). Therefore the content and the form are not mixed (the product and the way it is handled) as is the case of other classifications. By combining the product and the phase it is possible to distinguish exactly particular activities of a company, for instance:

It is most advisable to look for particular words or their parts by means of Find in the register of products and services.  
 
The register item is allocated to a company only if its activity is known and is currently pursued. The register of products and services is completed continuously, which is however laborious, mostly individual work and for that reason it is not possible to guarantee that all companies will be classified.  
 
Additional information is a text in which the company describes its activity, offers its products and services, specifies data on itself. The texts are included only with the companies that use this possibility as a result of direct communication with the company Albertina data. You can search for any word in the text. Additional information is only in Czech language available.

The database processes structured contacts to persons specified in the commercial register as statutory representatives or owners (partners). To a lesser extent it also contains executive managers found out through individual collection of data.

These contacts can be found by name, post (in a company) or by the so-called type of person, which is selection of sex, category of the year of birth or the country of origin.

Name of a person is provided in the same way it was entered in the commercial register incl. degrees. For search the names are divided by words, for easy and quick search for a particular person it is advisable to use Group of Keywords, in which you can write a name intuitively for instance karel novak. The program finds all occurrences of this name.

Post in company is included in the uniform classification which guarantees a clear selection of the required post. The classification contains also executive posts (codes starting with digit 1) which are only seldom entered in the commercial register. The posts of statutory representatives are included in the classification in codes starting with digit 2.

Type of person offers three indexes. Sex is specified only if it can be automatically distinguished by the name, it is not specified with some names of foreigners.

Age category, or category of year of birth is organised by periods of ten years and is based on birth-certificate numbers or dates of birth. This data are not displayed anywhere, they are neither printed nor exported. They are only for search.

Country of origin uses international classification of countries and comprises the persons whose country they come from is entered in the commercial register.

Data table

Name and address data of the companies can be seen on this area, moreover the indicator data which are the bases of filtering. The following fields can be found in this window:

• ID number: Identifying number of the company, 8 characters
• NACE code: Main activity code of the company (branch code), 4 characters (naming see on the Company's properties).
• GFO: Code of the company's economic activity, 3 characters (naming see on the Company's properties).
• County: County code according to the head quarters (area code) 2 characters.
  Note: the above mentioned 4 fields form the so called "statistical number", which is 17 characters long.
• Name: The entire name of the company recorded in the HCSO (Hungarian Central Statistical Office) database, all capitals, maximum 116 characters long.
• Zip code: Postal code according to the head quarters.
• Head quarter: maximum 20 characters, in case of Budapest address with district number.
• Street, house no.: maximum 40 characters.
• Staff category: The company staff category code, 2 characters (naming see on the Company's properties).
• Revenue category: Revenue category code of the company, 1 character (naming see on the Company's properties).
• Date of formation: Date of the company's formation.

This window is the key screen of application. Here can be created the set of filtering criteria by which the relevant companies we want to see. We can filter for several conditions at the same time: altogether 9 criteria. These criteria are the following:

Substring in the name
Date of formation
County according to the head quarters
Settlement according to the head quarters
Main activity code (NACE-code)
Manufactured product code (according to BTO)
Revenue category
Staff number category
Management (economic) form code

Logic of filtering is simple: conditions within one criteria related by "or", criteria with each other related by "and" connection. If user traces for example Baranya and Fejér counties and 1-4 staff categories, it means that we are looking for the firms based in Baranya or Fejér  and have 1-4 persons employed.

Selection happens in 2 ways: in case of 5 criteria with the help of check box and edit box, in case of the other 4 criteria a separate window serves for tracing the values of the condition.

Important: the following principle is valid for all criteria: if in a given criteria there is no condition traced, than any kind of relevant company gets into the result set.

Let's see the 9 points in more detailed:

1. Substring in the name
Only companies which name contains this string anywhere, gets into the result set.

2. Date of formation
The check box and edit box under it are to be used only if companies founded in a certain interval are searched for. The interval can be given by years and quarters.

3. County according to the head quarter
Selection of the counties by check box in the first "tab" of the window. Budapest is here as the twentieth county beyond the 19 administrative counties.

4. Settlement according to the head quarter
The list box can be found in the first "tab" of the window, which the selected settlement names are taken into. Selection can be initiated by pressing the "Settlements" button above the box. Maximum 30 settlements can be selected. Important: the program does not control the logical connection between the selected settlements and traced counties. For example if the user selects only Tolna county and Debrecen, since the 2 respect is in "and" connection, none of the companies will meet this criteria. It is important to emphasise that districts of Budapest are listed as separate settlements in the Settlements file (i.e.: XIII. DISTRICT, BUDAPEST). So when the user want to select all companies in Budapest, than he should not select this criteria, but criteria County according to head quarter shown in point 1. (in case of Budapest county code is "01")! About the way of selection see page Multiple-element selection via/through window .

Moreover it has to be noted that in the information panels in windows of Companies (filtered file) and Registered filters the settlement code can be seen, not the name of the head quarters. This code is a 4 characters number used by Central Statistical Office which helps to detect the settlement definitely. Be careful: settlement code is not the same as the postal code!

5. Main activity code (NACE-code)
It can be initiated with the button "NACE-code" found on the second "tab" of the window. In this case it displays Activities  window. Returning from the selection the selected activity names go into the list box near the button. Maximum 30 activities can be selected. 6. Product codes (according to BTO)
This criteria differs from the others a little bit. In the register of HCSO data can be found definitely for the other 6 criteria. Every company head quarters has a definite address, so it belongs to a county and settlement, main activity code, management (economic) form (LTD., Deposit company or anything else), staff number category etc are define and obligatory data. However we cannot talk about manufactured products in all cases, only in case of producer companies, and on the other hand the register of the HCSO does not record products manufactured by the companies. HCSO has data only from certain data collections. These data collections however not overall, but representative, so there is no exact data about every companies. Other problem is, that even if there is any data, it is possible that the company does not contribute to the publishing of its products. In this case of course these data cannot be registered into the Company-Code-Register CD. When setting the filtering criteria, please apply this criteria carefully, since for example for a given product the program does not find any company at all, however it does not mean that none of the companies produces the given product.

Selection can be initiated by the "BTO" press-button on the second "tab" of the window. Such a way we go to the  Products  window. Returning from the selection, names of the selected products go into the list box near the button. Maximum 15 products can be selected. 7. Revenue categories
Categories are selected with check box in the third "tab" of the window. In the names near the boxes the category is given only in text format, in the data table in the main window of the program and in case of export to file only the code itself is written. That is the reason why it is useful to know the meaning of the codes (the same is true for the next described staff category and managenet form code also). Revenue categories can be found here .

8. Staff categories
Similary to revenue categories, selection happens with checkbox on the third "tab" of the window. Category codes can be read here .

9. Management form code (GFO)
It can be initiated with the "GFO" button on the third "tab" of the window. Names of the selected management forms are taken into the list box. Maximum 30 elements can be selected. About the way of selection see page Multiple-element selection via/through window  .
